William Davis was a pitcher as a member of the baseball team and a point-guard for the basketball team at AIC. In 1964, he received All-Western Massachusetts, All-New England and All-America baseball honors after posting a 7-0 record with the nation's second-best earned run average of 0.41. Both were school records. Davis struck out a school record 69 batters in 1966 and finished his career as the school's all-time earned run average and strikeouts leader. 

After graduating in 1967, Davis went on to work in the Chicopee School Department for 39 years, including 37 years as a social studies teacher at Chicopee Comprehensive High School. He coached the Colts' boy's varsity soccer team for 32 years and was the boy's varsity track & field coach for 36 years. Davis was elected to the Massachusetts High School Coaches' Track & Field Hall of Fame in 2000. He was recognized twice in the annual "Who's Who Among American Teachers" publication.
