He was a three-year assistant-captain as a member of the hockey and was named to the East Region All-Rookie Team after the 1972-73 campaign. Alejandro was the team's assist leader for all four seasons and tallied a school-record 46 assists in 1975. His career total of 146 assists remain a school record and his 200 career points rank him third on AIC's all-time scoring list. Alejandro led the team to a school-record 16 victories in 1975 while tying the single-season points record of 68 and received the Henry A. Butova Memorial Leadership Award in 1976.

After graduation, he was a graduate assistant hockey coach for two seasons, helping lead the team to a pair of playoff appearances. Alejandro continued his coaching career at Springfield's Cathedral High School, where he led the Panthers' hockey team to two state championships, three elite eight appearances, four Western Massachusetts Championships and six division titles in 14 seasons. He later coached the Westfield State College hockey club team for three years and guided his team to a NECHA Championship.
