James 'Jim' Roy was inducted into the AIC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024 following an astounding baseball career as both a pitcher and hitter.

Roy burst onto the scene in 1981 and earned First-Team All-Northeast-8 Conference recognition in the outfield, hitting .359 as a rookie with six home runs and 28 runs batted in. He continued to crush at the plate, ultimately completing his career as a .344 hitter and leading the NE10 in home runs in 1984 and in runs batted in in both 1983 and 1984; he drove in 46 in 1984, earning another First-Team All-Conference selection.

Apart from his skill with the bat, he was an accomplished pitcher; in 1982, he went 4-1 with a 3.06 earned run average in seven appearances, and across his pitching career posted a 3.70 ERA.

At the time of his induction, he stood in the top 10 in AIC history in five offensive categories, including third in runs batted in with 127 total.

AIC was also successful as a team in his years; the Yellow Jackets never finished below second in the conference while Roy was playing, though the conference did not hold a championship tournament until after he graduated.
