Kim Steiner '12, '14 MS was inducted into the AIC Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024 as an incredible two-sport athlete who set program records in field hockey and track.
Recruited as a goalkeeper, Steiner came into a program that had never won more than three games in a season and turned it into a juggernaut. After totaling 10 wins in her rookie and sophomore campaigns in 2008 and 2009, she backstopped the team to 13 of a program-record 14 wins, earning the team its first-ever NFHCA national ranking, Northeast-10 Conference Championship Tournament appearance, postseason win, and NCAA Tournament appearance. She was named an NFHCA First-Team All-American, and as the only goalkeeper named to the First Team was effectively the national goalkeeper of the year.
Not content with one great season, Steiner stood tall again as a senior, captaining AIC back to the NE10 and NCAA Tournament again and repeating bringing AIC into the NFHCA's top 10, gaining NFHCA and Synapse Sports All-American status once again.
She completed her career tops in wins, saves, shutouts, and games played and started in goal, as well as the single-season record holder in wins, save percentage, and games started and played both as a goalkeeper and overall.
In addition to her prowess as a stopped, Steiner spent her senior and graduate years competing in track and field. Performing the pole vault, Steiner won USTFCCCA All-East Region honors in 2013.
Steiner was twice named team MVP for field hockey, in both 2010 and 2011, and following the 2011-12 academic year was selected as the FJ Maloney Award as the most outstanding athlete at AIC for four years.
