Paul Stockley was a three-year starter at shortstop as a member of the AIC baseball team, helping transform the program into a regional power, which culminated with capturing the 1979 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II-III championship. He had a career .285 batting average in his three seasons at AIC while totaling 98 hits with 22 doubles, 60 runs scored and 50 RBI, and along with fellow inductee Gary Barcher, gave AIC one of the best defensive middle infield combinations in New England. Stockley was drafted in the 16th round of the 1979 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft by the Oakland Athletics and spent a total of three seasons in the A’s system, reaching AA in 1980 with Eastern League’s West Haven Whitecaps. He also played professionally in Holland in 1984
