Dick Kross, one of the early AIC basketball standouts, graduated in 1958 and played for four seasons as a forward and a center. His single-game rebounding record of 41 boards against Springfield his senior season still stands and he also recorded 45 points in that game against AIC’s cross-town rival. Kross ranks third in both career-scoring and rebounding. He averaged 27.1 points per game his senior season en route to being named a United Press International Honorable Mention All-America and All-New England. Kross also received the Maloney Award as AIC’s outstanding senior athlete in 1958. 

Following graduation Kross played professionally in the Connecticut Basketball Association with the New Haven Columbus Bears, compiling a 128-7 record from 1958-61 while averaging 25 points per game. Kross also became the Director of Parks and Recreation for the town of East Haven, Conn. In 1958 and during his tenure in the newly-created position oversaw the development of programs as well as construction of several new athletic facilities, including the building of a new football stadium, skating rink and town pool as well as the expansion of the town beach area.
