Andy Griffin was a three-year letter winner for the football team from 1959-61 and was also a member of the men’s basketball team. He was the leading rusher in each of his three seasons, rushing for a career-best 616 yards on 139 carries and 10 touchdowns in 1959. The 64 points he scored that season, adding four PATs, stood as a school-record. He finished his career with 1,463 rushing yards on the ground and 116 point scored - the second-highest mark in school history at the time of his graduation in 1962. Griffin served as a team captain in 1961 and was named to the AIC Football "All-Time Team" selected in 1969.

After graduation, Griffin played semi-professionally for the Springfield Acorns. Griffin has devoted his life to education, serving as a professor at AIC before moving on to become the research director with the National Education Association. He would also serve as assistant superintendent with Public Education of Washington and would serve as the Executive Director of the Georgia Association of Educators.
