NORTH ATTLEBORO, Massachusetts - American International College men's lacrosse long stick midfielder
Dameer Phifer took home a bevy of awards from the Northeast 10 Conference on Monday, April 27, winning NE10 Rookie of the Year and earning Third-Team All-Conference and All-Rookie honors from the league.
Phifer is the sixth player in AIC history to win NE10 Rookie of the Year since the program was founded in 1992.
He had a magical season in his first campaign, breaking the NCAA Division II record for most caused turnovers in a season with 59. He also grabbed 86 ground balls, good for fifth in the conference through the NE10 First Round.Â
In addition to his defensive skills, he was a key component of AIC's faceoff unit, playing the wing on faceoffs, and added offensive punch with two goals and three assists; his tallies came against nationally ranked opponents in Saint Michael's College and Saint Anselm College.Â
