WEST HARTFORD, Connecticut - The American International College track and field team showed up strong at the University of Hartford's Rage In The Cage Invitational on Friday, April 3.
On the women's side,
Jodiann Ebanks and
Sydnee Collins went 1-2 in the 100-meter dash, with times of 12.06 and 12.48 seconds, respectively; they also took the top two spots in the 200-meter dash in 25.15 and 25.90 seconds.
Johnelle Thomas crushed it in the hurdles, winning the 100-meter variant in 14.67 seconds and taking second in the 400-meter event in 1:06.60.
Those three, along with
Saskia Lawson, won the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 49.11 seconds.
Hawaye Adam was also a winner, taking the long jump with a leap of 5.78 meters, while
Deborah Ofodile was second in the triple jump with two attempts reaching 10.00 meters.
The men had a similar story;
Justin Baker won the 100-meter dash in 10.56 seconds and took second in the 200-meter dash in 21.81 seconds, behind only his teammate
Junior Grant's 21.54-second win.Â
Harvey Lys was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.23 seconds, and won the high jump with a top jump of 1.95 meters.
Kevin Brady, Baker,
Nicardo Clarke, and
Saundrae Palmer Jr. took second in the 4x100-meter relay in 41.92 seconds.
Finally,
Moniha Krouch medaled in the discus, taking second with his fling of 41.67 meters.
AIC heads to the Empire State for its next meet, the Queens Knights Invitational, on Friday, April 10.
