NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut - The American International College track and field team had members who competed at two events over the weekend of April 23-25, with the bulk of the squad battling at the Central Connecticut State University Invitational and select portions of the team competing at the Penn Relays.
AIC's women's 4x100-meter relay unit of
Saskia Lawson,
Johnelle Thomas,
Jodiann Ebanks, and
Sydnee Collins turned in a time of 48.55 seconds in Philadelphia, while the men's unit in the same event, composed of
Mike Ricketts,
Justin Baker,
Nicardo Clarke, and
Romel Plummer posted a time of 41.45 seconds.
The men's quartet also competed in the 4x200-meter relay, finishing the race in 1:25.15.
Plummer ran a third race, the 4x400-meter relay, serving as the anchor leg behind
Junior Grant,
Kevin Brady, and
Vasillios Parsley. Those four posted a time of 3:17.27.
Both the 4x100 and 4x400 times are good for second in the NE10; the conference does not hold a 4x200 race.
At Central Connecticut,
Deborah Ofodile scored in the 100-meter hurdles by finishing seventh in 15.99 seconds.
Harvey Lys took third in the high jump at 1.95 meters, and also eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.35 seconds.
Nnaemeka Amaechina rounded out the scoring contingent with a 6.45-meter long jump, good for fifth.
The team will now focus on the Northeast 10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, held May 1-2 at Southern Connecticut State University.
