NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut - The American International College track and field team had members who competed at two events over the weekend of April 23-25, with the bulk of the squad battling at the Central Connecticut State University Invitational and select portions of the team competing at the Penn Relays.

AIC's women's 4x100-meter relay unit of Saskia Lawson, Johnelle Thomas, Jodiann Ebanks, and Sydnee Collins turned in a time of 48.55 seconds in Philadelphia, while the men's unit in the same event, composed of Mike Ricketts, Justin Baker, Nicardo Clarke, and Romel Plummer posted a time of 41.45 seconds.

The men's quartet also competed in the 4x200-meter relay, finishing the race in 1:25.15.

Plummer ran a third race, the 4x400-meter relay, serving as the anchor leg behind Junior Grant, Kevin Brady, and Vasillios Parsley. Those four posted a time of 3:17.27.

Both the 4x100 and 4x400 times are good for second in the NE10; the conference does not hold a 4x200 race.

At Central Connecticut, Deborah Ofodile scored in the 100-meter hurdles by finishing seventh in 15.99 seconds. Harvey Lys took third in the high jump at 1.95 meters, and also eighth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.35 seconds. Nnaemeka Amaechina rounded out the scoring contingent with a 6.45-meter long jump, good for fifth.

The team will now focus on the Northeast 10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship, held May 1-2 at Southern Connecticut State University.
