SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The 2026 Yellow Jacket Invitational marked the start of the outdoor portion of the season for the American International College track and field program and the John G. Hoyt '52 Track and Field Complex saw strong results from its home squad on Saturday, March 28.
Jodiann Ebanks and Sydnee Collins went 1-2 in the 100-meter dash with times of 12.38 and 12.68 seconds, and flipped places in the 200-meter dash with times of 25.77 and 25.29 seconds, respectively.Â
Johnelle Thomas won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.32 seconds, and added a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.32.Â
That trio, along with Saskia Lawson, grabbed second in the 4x100-meter relay in 49.89 seconds.
The men likewise did well in the sprints;
Justin Baker won the 100-meter dash in 10.87 seconds and took third in the 200-meter dash in 22.09;
Junior Grant won that in a speedy 21.76 seconds. Grant and
Kevin Brady went 1-2 in the 400-meter dash as well in 49.75 and 51.28 seconds, respectively.Â
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Harvey Lys took second in 15.29 seconds.Â
Brandon Torres, Baker,
Nicardo Clarke, and Saundrae Palmer finished second in the 4x100-meter relay in 43.04 seconds.
In the discus,
Moniha Krouch's final throw went 41.90 meters, good for third, while Kareem Jeffries-Hazard took second in the hammer throw with a 46.75-meter result.
The team next heads to the University of Hartford for the Rage in the Cage Invitational on April 3-4.
