BOSTON, Massachusetts - The American International College track and field team competed at two meets in Boston over the weekend of January 30-31, racing at the Harvard Invitational at Harvard University's Gordon Track and Tennis Center and Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
At Harvard, it was AIC's men's field athletes that had the top results. Kareem Jeffries-Hazard placed sixth in the weight throw with a 14.90-meter toss on his final throw of the day, while
Harvey Lys cleared 1.93 meters in the high jump to finish eighth.
At Boston University, Sydney Collins took fourth for the women's team in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.98 seconds for AIC's lone top-10 finish at that meet.
While not placing against a mostly Division I field, Collins and
Jodiann Ebanks both put themselves atop the Northeast 10 Conference and East Region leaderboard in the 200-meter dash; Ebanks' time of 25.03 seconds is the best of any runner in the East, while Collins is now second at 25.13 seconds.
Likewise, AIC's 4x400-meter relay team of
Junior Grant,
Vasillios Parsley,
Kevin Brady, and
Romel Plummer ran a 3:20.91 in their event, the second-best time in the NE10 and East Region this season and just 0.14 seconds back of Southern Connecticut State University's top time.
The teams will head back to Boston on February 6-7 for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell's River Hawk Invitational.
