BOSTON, Massachusetts - The American International College track and field team opened the 2025-26 indoor season with several strong performances at the TRACK at new balance's Early Bird Invitational, including a pair of winning performances, on Saturday, December 6.
On the men's side,
Justin Baker medaled in the 60-meter dash, finishing third in 6.95 seconds; Mick Ricketts was just behind at 7.03 seconds. Baker also was second in the 200-meter dash in 21.93 seconds and
Brandon Torres and Saundrae Palmer finished third and fifth in 22.46 and 22.63 seconds, respectively.
In the 400-meter dash,
Junior Grant and
Romel Plummer were also third and fourth, completing two laps in 50.66 and 50.91 seconds.
Vasillios Parsley went fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:03.67, and
Harvey Lys was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.50 seconds.
Baker, Ricketts, Plummer, and Parsley also put together a stellar showing in the 4x400-meter relay, winning in 3:40.61.
Nnaemeka Amaechina's long jump debut notched him fourth, as his best leap was 6.67 meters, and Kareem Jeffries-Hazard also netted fourth in the weight throw at 14.80 meters.
On the women's side,
Jodiann Ebanks won the 60-meter dash, finishing in 7.78 seconds, with Sydney Collins taking fourth in 8.01. Ebanks also won the 200-meter dash in 25.42, just ahead of Collins in second in 25.63 seconds.
Thunder Mayhew and
Rebecca Toure each took third in a throwing events, with Mayhew's final shot put toss going 11.12 meters, and Toure's weight throw finale reaching 12.70 meters.Â
AIC will next compete at Wagner College's Seahawk Shootout on December 12-13.
