SPRAGUE, Connecticut - Rajai Rai shot a three-under 68 and three Yellow Jackets finished par or better as the American International College men's golf team finished second at Eastern Connecticut State University's Warrior Collegiate Invitational with a team score of 289 on Monday, September 14.
Ingmar Scheneau finished fifth overall, with a birdie on the 9th and one on the 17th to end at an even par.
Ezequiel Gonzalez had a round with more ups than downs; though he bogied six holes, he also had five birdies and AIC's lone eagle, taking down the 502-yard par-five 13th hole in just three strokes.
But Rai was the story. He was not originally in the AIC lineup, but a late scratch put him on the course and he made the most of it. After finishing the front nine at one over, he birdied the 10th hole, then the 12th and 13th back-to-back, and finished with another birdie on 18 to close out the win in style.
He was two strokes ahead of Gonzalez, ECSU's Ethan McDaniel, and Roger Williams University's Reid Ohanesian, who all fired one-under 70 totals.
For Gonzalez, he has finished as the individual runner-up at both tournaments so far in 2026.Â
AIC next competes at the SNHU Penmen Fall Invitational on September 27.
