Men's Golf claims Springfield crown in 2025-26 season finale

WILBRAHAM, Massachusetts - They may have been listed as the 'B' team, but the second squad of the American International College men's golf team put on an A+ performance, with three golfers shooting a 1-over 72 and the squad finishing first of the six competing at the City of Springfield Championship at the Country Club of Wilbraham on Tuesday, April 21.

Each of AIC, Springfield College, and Western New England University had two five-member teams compete in the one-round battle.

Daniel Kibe, Matthew Garrity, and Tommy Huang all had outstanding rounds, carding 72s for the Yellow Jackets. Garrity eagled the par-4 seventh hole, while Huang sank his second shot on the par-4 12th hole for a minus two, the only eagles on the day for anyone. The team ultimately recorded a 296 on the day.

Those strong showings allowed the Yellow Jackets to hold off the Golden Bears, who as a team fired a 303, edging out AIC's listed 'A' squad by two strokes thanks to birdies on the 18th hole.

Despite having the individual champion in Carter Browning, who shot an even-par 71, Western New England's 'B' squad tied with Springfield's 'A' squad for fourth at 313, while Springfield's 'B' team rounded out the results at a 331.

That meet closes the 2025-26 season for the men's golf team.
