Volleyball falls on the road at Pace

PLEASANTVILLE, New York The American International College volleyball team rounded out their two-game road swing with a match against Pace. The Yellow Jackets fell to the Setters 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Leading the first set 6-5, the Setters went on a 12-3 run to take the 18-8 lead. AIC then went on a 7-0 run to close the gap to 18-15. The Setters then took seven of the next nine points to take the first set, 25-17.
  • The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 5-3 lead early in the second set. Pace answered by taking six of the next seven points. The Setters continued to roll as they jumped out to a 20-12 lead before taking the set 25-15.
  • With their backs against the wall, the Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 6-3 lead. Later in the set, the Setters took their first lead of the set at 13-12. The score was tied at 17 when the Setters went on an 8-2 run to take the third set 25-19 and the match 3-0.

GAME NOTES:
  • With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, senior outside hitterDiva Rivas-Reyesbecame the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She also jumped into fourth place in program history with 1,075 kills. She currently trails Sarah Neaves, who has 1,148 career kills, by 73.
  • Junior outside hitterJana Poticjumped into sixth place in program history in kills against Stonehill College on September 11. She currently has 970 kills. She trails Jamie Hutchison by 32 kills for fifth place.
  • Rivas-Reyes also moved into fourth place in program history in points with 1,142.5. She currently trails Sarah Neaves who scored 1,317 points in her career at AIC. Right behind her is teammateJana Potic, who has scored 1,131.5 points in her career so far.

NEXT UP:
  • The Yellow Jackets will take a week off, as they will next take the court when they face Bentley on Tuesday, September 25.
