HOW IT HAPPENED:
GAME ONE:
  • AIC came out hot as the Yellow Jackets took 13 of the first 15 points in the set to jump out to the early lead. The Griffins tried to fight their way back into the game as they took seven of nine points to make it a 17-13 game. The Yellow Jackets closed out the set with a kill by freshman outside hitter Andrea Serra to take the first set 25-18,
  • Down 5-4 in the second set, the Griffins rallied out four straight points to take the 8-5 lead. The Yellow Jackets answered with a three-point run that forced a Chestnut Hill timeout. Tied at 16, the Griffins took the 23-20 lead late in the set. AIC fought back and tied it at 24, but the Griffins took the set 26-24.
  • Upset by dropping the last set, the Yellow Jackets refocused and jumped out to a 12-4 lead that included a 6-0 run in the third set. Chestnut Hill tried to fight the uphill battle, but AIC took the set 25-13.
  • Just like the first and third set, the Yellow Jackets rallied early and took an 8-0 lead. Chestnut Hill clawed their way back into the match by going on a 6-1 run to make it an 11-9 game. AIC was too much to handle as they took the set 25-19 and the match 3-1.

GAME TWO:
  • Just 35 minutes after their first match, the Yellow Jackets came back to the court to take on Mercy College. AIC jumped out to another early lead, this time 15-3. The Yellow Jackets continued to roll as they took the first set 25-10.
  • After falling behind 3-0 to start the set, the Mavericks came back to tie the set at seven. AIC then went on a 5-0 run to take the 14-9 lead. The Yellow Jackets held at least a two-point led the rest of the set as they took it 25-21.
  • The Yellow Jackets just kept rolling early in the third set as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but the Mavericks answered with a 5-0 run of their own. Tied at 23, the Yellow Jackets were just one point away from winning the match, but Mavericks forced a fourth set as they took the third 26-24.
  • As the fourth set began, the Mavericks found themselves trailing the Yellow Jackets 11-2 in a hurry. The Yellow Jackets continued to dominate the set, as they took it 25-9 and the match 3-1.
