SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts- The American International College volleyball team extended its winning streak to six with a sweep over Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, October 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Trailing 11-7 in the first set, the Yellow Jackets went on a 5-0 run to take a 12-11 lead. The Owls clawed back to take a 20-19 lead before AIC tied the game up at 20. From that point on, the Yellow Jackets took five of the next six points to take the first set 25-21.
- The Owls led the Yellow Jackets 23-19 when AIC started to make a late surge. AIC took the next two points and forced a Southern Connecticut timeout. Out of the timeout, AIC took four of the next five points to take a 25-24 led. Tied at 25, junior outside hitter Jana Potic sent two passes from senior setter Dolores Kopren to take the set 27-25.
- Early in the third set, AIC took a 5-1 lead. The Owls tried to get back in the game, battling to cut their deficit to two at 14-12. AIC then went on a 5-0 run before taking the set 25-15 to give the Yellow Jackets the sweep over Southern Connecticut.
BUZZWORTHY:
- With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, senior outside hitterDiva Rivas-Reyesbecame the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She is currently in fourth place in program history with 1,147 kills. She trails Sarah Neaves, who had 1,148 kills from 1998-2001.
- Potic recorded her 1,000th career kill at Adelphi on Saturday, September 29. She also recentlyjumped into fifth place in program history in kills. She currently has 1,069 kills. She currently trails her teammate, Rivas-Reyes.
- Potic jumped ahead of Rivas-Reyes in total points in program history on Tuesday, October 2 at Franklin Pierce. Potic currently sits at 1,240 points while Rivas-Reyes has 1,217 points. Potic currently trails Neaves, who scored 1,317 points in her career at AIC.
