SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts- The American International College volleyball team continued its hot streak as the Yellow Jackets beat the University of Bridgeport 3-0 on Thursday, October 11 to extend their winning streak to seven.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Yellow Jackets swarmed to an early 9-1 lead thanks in part to two aces by senior setter Dolores Kopren. Up 9-4, AIC rallied off six straight points to extend their lead to 11, 15-4. The Purple Knights tried to fight back, but the Yellow Jackets took the first set 25-16.
- Trailing 4-2 in the second, AIC went on a 5-0 run to force a Bridgeport timeout. The timeout did not slow the Yellow Jackets down, as they continued their run for four more points and took the lead 10-4. As the set continued, the Purple Knights trailed 16-11 before making their move to tie the match at 16 then take the lead 17-16 before extending it 21-19. The Yellow Jackets refocused and took the next six points to take the set 25-21, with four aces by junior outside hitter Jana Potic to lead the way.
- AIC lead 9-8 in the third set when they started to pull away from the Purple Knights. They extended their lead to 16-9 before taking the set 25-20.
BUZZWORTHY:
- The Yellow Jackets' 17 aces is their most in a game this season. Their previous high was 12, which they have done three times this season. The last time AIC had more than 15 aces was back in 2012 against Merrimack College on October 27.
- With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, senior outside hitterDiva Rivas-Reyesbecame the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She is currently in third place in program history with 1,154 kills. She trails Ellisha Terry, who had 1,286 kills from 2008-11.
- Potic recorded her 1,000th career kill at Adelphi on Saturday, September 29. She also recentlyjumped into fifth place in program history in kills. She currently has 1,080 kills. She currently trails her teammate, Rivas-Reyes.
- Potic jumped ahead of Rivas-Reyes in total points in program history on Tuesday, October 2 at Franklin Pierce. Potic currently sits at 1,257 points while Rivas-Reyes has 1,224 points. Potic currently trails Neaves, who scored 1,317 points in her career at AIC.
