CALDWELL, New Jersey- The American International College volleyball team rounded out its three-game road swing at Caldwell University on Friday, October 5. Despite losing the first set, the Yellow Jackets came back to take the next three.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the first 26 points of the match, the teams had nine ties or lead changes, including a 13-13 tie. From that point, the Cougars went on a 6-1 run to take a 19-14 lead. The Yellow Jackets tried to make a late run, but the Cougars took the first set 25-20.
- Caldwell started the second set on a 4-0 run, but the Yellow Jackets swarmed back to tie the game at four. Leading 8-6, AIC went on a 17-6 run to take the second set 25-12.
- Tied at 14, the Cougars went on a 5-1 run to take a 19-15 lead. AIC fought their way back to take a 22-21 lead, and continued to roll as they took the set 25-22.
- With the score tied at four in the fourth set, the Yellow Jackets went on an 11-2 run to start to pull away. AIC closed the match out as they took the set 25-12 for the 3-1 win.
BUZZWORTHY:
- With a kill in the third set against Holy Family on September 7, senior outside hitter Diva Rivas-Reyesbecame the fifth player in AIC program history with 1,000 career kills. She is currently in fourth place in program history with 1,140 kills. She trails Sarah Neaves, who had 1,148 kills from 1998-2001.
- Junior outside hitter Jana Potic recorded her 1,000th career kill at Adelphi on Saturday, September 29. She also recentlyjumped into fifth place in program history in kills. She currently has 1,053 kills. She currently trails her teammate Rivas-Reyes.
- Potic jumped ahead of Rivas-Reyes in total points in program history on Tuesday, October 2 at Franklin Pierce. Potic currently sits at 1,223.5 points while Rivas-Reyes has 1,209 points. Potic currently trails Neaves, who scored 1,317 points in her career at AIC.
NEXT UP:
- The Yellow Jackets will host Southern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, October 9 at 7 p.m. The team will be honoring the culture of the student-athletes from Puerto Rico.
