Men's Basketball Ends Non-Conference Portion of Schedule With Holy Family Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team has won 3-of-4 entering second half action and begin the next set of games with a tall task in the Holy Family University Tigers Wednesday afternoon at Henry A. Butova Gymnasium.

TRENDING NOW: Over the last four-game stretch that has seen three Yellow Jacket victories, AIC seniors Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.) and Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) have put up solid numbers. Dobbs is averagng 16.25 points inclusing a game-high 22 in the win over Chestnut Hill. Burrell is averaging 15.5 points and 7.0 boards over this span of recent success and also threw down 22 points in an overtime thriller over Goldey Beacom.

ABOUT AIC: Winners of 3-4, the Yellow Jackets hope the recent success carries over into the new year. In the last few weeks AIC has narrowed the gap between them (76.0 PPG), and their opponents (83.5 PPG). The 63 points allowed in their last outing to Chestnut Hill was the lowest point total allowed this season. Dobbs paces the Jacket offense with 16.8 points, while Burrell is the only other AIC player notching double digit points with 12.7 a game. Senior forward Oscar Assie (Ansonia, Conn.) has been a force on the glass, grabbing 6.6 rebounds-game, while Burrell recent stretch of tenacity has seen his rebounds numbers grow to 5.5-game.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Winners of seven straight including back-to-back wins over ranked opponents, No. 2 Southern Connecticut and No. 25 Philadelphia, the Tigers are currently tops in the East Region. HFU senior Reggie Charles is a back-to-back Centralk Atlantic Colegiate Conference Player of the Week and leads the team with 17.0 points. Derrick Stewart owns the glass, grabbing 10.6 boards-game for the Tigers.

THE LAST MEETING: AIC senior Aikeem Vanderhorst notched 13 points and 10 rebounds in a Yellow Jacket road win in Philadelphia, 97-78. Vanderhorst's 13 points moved him into 20th in program history, he currently ranks 15th on the career scoring list with 1,311 points. AIC junior forward Allen Aragbaye registered a team-high 22 points in the victory, as Tiger Khalil Mumford recorded a game-high 26 points in the losing effort.

NEXT UP: AIC finishes up it's four-game homestand Saturday when the University of New Haven visits Butova. Tip-off with the Chargers is slated for 3:30 p.m.
