SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The American International College men's basketball team went 4-2 in the out-of-conference portion of their schedule and head back into Northeast-10 play Saturday winners of four of the last five games when the University of New Haven returns to Butova.

Cameron Dobbs (Albany, N.Y.) hit four first half three's to help his team gap No. 24 Holy Family at the intermission, 34-19, and cruise to a huge non-conference win Wednesday night at home over the nationally ranked Tigers, 74-65. Dobbs finished with 14 and leads the team with 16.4 points.
ABOUT AIC: Winners of three straight and 4-of-5, the Yellow Jackets hope the recent success and stingier defense carries on as they head back into NE-10 play where they opened the season 0-5. After allowing 90.2 points-per-game over the first five outings, AIC has tightened it's defensive intensity, dropping their PPG allowed to 81.8 for the season.
ALBANY'S FINEST: Over the last five games, Albany, N.Y. natives
Trahmier Burrell (Albany, N.Y.) and Dobbs have picked up the offensive pace, averaging 15.6 and 15.5 points, respectively.
DOUBLING DOWN: Yellow Jacket senior
Oscar Assie (Ansonia, Conn.) posted a quiet double-double (11 points, 11 rebounds) in AIC's latest win over Holy Family, his team-leading third of the season. Burrell has the team's other two and posted 14 points and 10 rebounds against Holy Family, as well.
SCOUTING THE CHARGERS: Big winners over then No. 2 Southern Connecticut State, New Haven has seen mixed results this season, including dropping their last two at Post and against East Stroudsburg entering Saturdays NE-10 game in Springfield. The Chargers are -0.8 in scoring margin this season and are led by Michael Bourke's 18.8 points-game. Two other Chargers boast double-digit scoring figures, Jemal Mosley (17.7) and Levy Gillespie (13.5). With big-man and rebound machine Eric Anderson graduated, Joshua Giddemi grabs 6.5 boards-game in his place.
THE LAST MEETING: Dobbs knocked down 8-11 shots from behind the arc and finished with a game-high 24 points in American International's home victory over the Charger's last February, 71-57. Dobbs averaged 22.5 points against New Haven in two games last season, going 16-27 from the floor and an impressive 13-20 from long range.
Marcus Porter ('15) notched a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds, while
Bobby Harris ('15) chipped in 12 points and dished seven dimes. New Haven's Eric Anderson led the way with 17 points in the losing effort. With Anderson gone, Samir McDaniel's returns as the best Charger from the last matchup (12 points, 12 boards).
NEXT UP: AIC hits the road for two games with Northeast Division side of the NE-10 beginning with a trip to Assumption Wednesday, Jan. 6. Tip-off with the Greyhounds is slated for 7:30 p.m. The road does not get easier for AIC as they travel to Southern New Hampshire Saturday, Jan. 9 for a bout with the Penmen.
