SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - American International College men's soccer's offensive onslaught was too much for Adelphi University to handle, leading to a 4-2 Yellow Jackets victory in Northeast 10 Conference play on Wednesday, September 23.
AIC is now 3-3-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the NE10.
The Yellow Jackets struck first early, as a corner kick by
Sandro Alvarez Jimenez was headed in by
Dani Sierra Arias at 6:18.
AIC scored again around fifteen minutes later, building a 2-0 lead with a
Max-Paul Busnel goal on another assist from Alvarez Jimenez at 22:11, his second of three assists on the night.
Adelphi got on the board late in the first half with a goal from Enrico Cesarini Sforza at 43:22, firing home a free kick. However, less than a minute later, AIC punched right back with a goal from
Liam Smith assisted by
Tyler Ferreira at 44:18, giving the Yellow Jackets a 3-1 lead at halftime.
The rest of the game was mostly quiet besides a three-minute window late in the second half, where both teams scored once more. Adelphi's Arik Landau set up a Sam Wraith goal at 76:46 to pull the Panthers back within one before Smith knocked in his second goal of the game at 79:50 to seal the 4-2 victory for the Yellow Jackets.
Javier Solá Martínez had three saves en route to the win, all in the second half.
