Liam Smith's fourth goal of the season was the lone tally in a tightly-defended 1-0 win for the American International College men's soccer team at Bentley University on Saturday, September 26 in Northeast 10 Conference play.
AIC is now 4-3-2 overall with a 2-1-0 NE10 record.
Max-Paul Busnel broke up the left side of the field out of AIC's defensive half on a counter, powering through a defender and managing to stay balanced. He fired a cross pass to the middle of the 18-yard box that Smith poked forward and then slid to fire at a sharp angle. It flew just under the crossbar and in at 21:17, giving the Yellow Jackets the lead.
That was it for the scoring on a rainy morning; both teams totaled just four shots on goal and Javier Solá Martínez was able to turn them all aside for his second shutout of the season.
AIC turns back to nonconference play on Tuesday, September 29 at 6:00 p.m. with a home tilt against Molloy University.
