SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - Under siege all night,
Nicholas Kendall made 21 saves, but the American International College men's lacrosse team fell 12-5 to No. 20 Saint Michael's College on Saturday, April 11 in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup.
AIC is now 1-12 overall and 0-7 in the NE10.
The Purple Knights held AIC off the board until late in the second quarter when
Dameer Phifer flew down field and ripped home a shot at 11:10; AIC trailed 10-1 at the break.
Camden Macdonald set up
Jordan Boyenko for the only goal of the third, a man-up marker at 7:02; the story of that period was Kendall, who stuffed all eight shots he faced in the frame.
Jacob Ligor scored the next goal, a solo effort on a crease roll from the left at 2:04 of the fourth; Boyenko and Max Smith each also scored in the final frame for the 12-5 final.
Kendall's 21 stops put him at 221 for the year; his 17 saves per game on average rank him tops in all of NCAA Division I and II.Â
AIC breaks from NE10 play for its home finale, a Tuesday, April 14 tilt with Holy Family University at 6:00 p.m.
