Gabrielle Walz notched four goals and two assists, the last of which was the 100th point of her career, as the American International College women's lacrosse team fell 18-6 at Coker University on Saturday, March 7.
AIC is now 0-3 on the season.
Walz's first goal came at the 8:43 mark, pulling AIC within a 2-1 margin midway through the first, but the Cobras scored the next nine and led 11-1 at halftime.
The second half was much more even. Walz opened the scoring with her second of the game at 2:15, and countered a Cobras tally with her third of the afternoon at 6:06. Walz later set up
Kaileigh Kelleher for her first collegiate goal at 12:28; after three, AIC trailed 14-4.
Walz quickly made it four goals on the day and seven for the season with a strike at the 0:58 mark of the fourth quarter, and then notched her 100th career point by setting up
Isabelle Stone's second of the season at 2:18 on a man-up opportunity. The Cobras closed out the scoring with four more for the 18-6 final.
Maggie Kloster made a season-best 13 stops in the setback, reaching the 200 career save mark on a chance in close by Mia MacMillan at 9:43 of the second quarter.
AIC opens Northeast 10 Conference play on Wednesday, March 11 at 3:30 p.m. at Assumption University before returning home on Friday, March 13 to face Felician University at 2:30 p.m.
