SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's volleyball team lost a 15-25, 18-25, 21-25 result to Merrimack College on Tuesday, March 31.
AIC is now 2-17 on the campaign.
Merrimack used a fantastically efficient offense to take the first set, with nine kills on just 13 swings and a .615 attack percentage, and limited AIC to hitting .042 to easily win the opener.
AIC was able to slow the offense somewhat for the Warriors in the second, but they still compiled 15 kills and a .344 attack percentage to grab the second set and a 2-0 lead.
In the third, AIC's offense came to life, but Merrimack had the momentum and began pulling away late in the set; they hit .444 with just three errors against 15 kills on 27 swings to seal the match win despite AIC's 11 kills and solid .233 attack percentage.
Wiilie Lopez Morales led AIC with seven kills, while
Emil Zhmaidziak had six.
Rian Woods dished out 17 assists.
AIC returns to play Wednesday, April 8 at Wheaton College with a 7:00 p.m. opening serve.
