Men's Lacrosse falters at Franklin Pierce

RINDGE, New Hampshire - A tough second quarter was the difference as the American International College men's lacrosse team dropped an 18-10 result at Northeast 10 Conference foe Franklin Pierce University on Saturday, March 28.

AIC is now 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the NE10.

The Yellow Jackets quickly took the lead as Jacob Ligor and Jordan Boyenko each scored and set the other up; Ligor's first came at 2:52 and Boyenko's at 3:55. The Ravens got on the board just past the nine-minute mark, but Boyenko hit the twine again, this time from Jett Bogart at 13:06. The Ravens scored again late to leave AIC ahead 3-2 after one.

Franklin Pierce tied the game at 2:21 of the second, but AIC untied it just 12 seconds later, with Seven Gillingham finding Ligor for his second of the game. However, that was it for scoring for AIC until late in the quarter as the Ravens ripped off a run of eight goals in 6:07 to get ahead 11-4. Ligor and Bogart each scored one and assisted the other down the stretch to help pull AIC back into the game, but the Yellow Jackets trailed 11-6 at the half.

AIC was blanked in the third, which saw the Ravens scored three times in a 3:00 stretch, and then add two early in the fourth for a 16-6 lead. Camden Macdonald and Riley McGraw scored goals 17 seconds apart, with McGraw's strike set up by Gillingham, but the Ravens negated those with two of their own. Ligor closed the scoring with two more strikes, the latter set up by Gillingham, for the 18-10 final.

Ligor's seven points were a career best, and his five goals tied his career high output in a single game.

Aiden Moscarello won 20 faceoffs and grabbed eight ground balls; Dameer Phifer forced five turnovers and snagged eight grounders. Nicholas Kendall made 16 saves.

AIC returns to play Wednesday, April 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Pace University.
