MILLERSVILLE, Pennsylvania - The American International College field hockey team fell 9-1 to Millersville University on Friday, September 5, in the team's season opener.
AIC is 0-1 on the campaign.
The Marauders scored the game's first three goals, but AIC was able to get on the board late in the first half.
Mia Wood took a shot from the left side of the circle that was saved, but the rebound bounced to
Milagros Zanatelli. She in turn passed the ball around the prone goalkeeper to
Chloe Moss, who tapped in her first collegiate goal at 13:48 of the second frame.
It was all Millersville from there; the Marauders scored twice in the first 4:01 of the second half and ultimately pulled away for the 9-1 win. It might have been more than that, but for the efforts of
Frederique den Hartog, who stuffed 19 shots in the setback.
AIC returns to Ronald J. Abdow Field for the first time for its home opener Sunday, September 7 against No. 6 Bloomsburg University. The game is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
