Athletic Department celebrates academic success with 3.0 Club Induction

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts – The American International College Department of Athletics celebrated the classroom successes of its student-athletes throughout the 2024-25 academic year with its annual 3.0 Club Ceremony held at the Esther B. Griswold Theatre on Monday, September 22.

In total, 196 student-athletes earned the honor.

"Celebrating our academic success is just as, if not, more important than our on-field success. The Athletic Directors 3.0 Club is a great way for student athletes to share the classroom wins of their peers by encouraging academic excellence while balancing the rigors of being a collegiate Division II athlete. We are proud of each of this year's members and hope to grow the 3.0 Club in the coming years," Director of Athletics Rob Kearney said.

To qualify, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a four-point scale and must be an undergraduate student-athlete both in 2024-25 and 2025-26.

The football team had the largest number of honorees with 22, while baseball and women's soccer each had 19 selections. Men's soccer and women's rugby followed with 17 and 16 student-athletes recognized.

AIC began the 3.0 Club in fall of 2006 with a purpose of "recognizing the STUDENT in student-athlete, congratulating them on their achievements, and hoping they will be viewed as academic role models for all student-athletes," according to Faculty Athletics Representative Jill McCarthy Payne.
