SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's soccer team faced off against the College of Staten Island on Wednesday September 17, ending in a 1-1 draw.
AIC is 0-1-3 on the season.Â
Ten minutes into the game, the Dolphins attempted to clear the ball, handing it right to Oliver Nota. The AIC forward found the foot of Raphael Rothschedl in the middle of the box. Rothschedl took one touch and fired it low to the bottom left corner, giving AIC the early 1-0 lead. Â
In the 34th minute, Gregor Schillinger was issued a yellow card. Â
Going into the second half, AIC kept the lead. In the 58th minute, Schillinger got his second yellow card of the game, giving him an automatic red card, and AIC had to play a man down the rest of the game.
Staten Island put the ball in the back of the net as Wolfgang Alvarado scored, but the goal was called back from a handball.
In the 72nd minute, Brian Puelo sent Alvarado a long ball to the left side of the field. Alvarado touched into the box and took a shot to the low left corner, equalizing the game at 1-1. Â
Javier Solá Martínez made five saves during the game. Â
The Yellow Jackets' next match is against Molloy University on Saturday, September 20, at noon, in Rockville Centre, New York. Â
