Men's Soccer puts up fight in loss to No. 7 Bentley

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts - The American International College men's soccer team fell 3-2 to No. 7 Bentley University in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup on Wednesday, October 22.

AIC is now 1-7-4 with an 0-5-1 NE10 mark.

The Falcons scored twice in a five-minute span in the first half; Lukas Drahos redirected an Antonio Santos cross into the box for a goal at 16:10, and then Michael Haikal headed back a Wynn Hammond pass off of a Logan Veloria corner at 21:17.

AIC was not without chances in the first half, including a Pietro Botasso breakaway that Cam Hall denied in the 41st minute, but the Yellow Jackets trailed 2-0 at the break.

Botasso was able to break through on his second try of the game early in the second half, taking a feed from Guilhereme Afonso that allowed him to split the defense and push a shot into the right corner past Hall for his third of the year at 47:54.

Both teams pushed, but it was Bentley that scored next, as Damion Pollard jammed in a loose ball at the left side of the six-yard box on a throw in. That goal, at 68:57, was assisted by Owen MacKinnon.

AIC continued to generate chances, and pulled back within one late as Simba Pelletier scored his second of the season on a cross into the box from the right by Thomas Lafayette, but with the goal coming at 89:36, the Yellow Jackets did not have time to net the equalizer.

Javier Solá Martínez made three saves in the contest; shots on goal were 6-6, and AIC's two tallies mark just the second time this season that the seventh-ranked Falcons have allowed two goals.

AIC next hosts Pace on Saturday, October 25 at 1:00 p.m. for the team's Senior Day game.
