CALDWELL, New Jersey – The American International College women's soccer team defeated Caldwell University 1-0 on Wednesday, September 6 in a nonconference matchup.
AIC improves to 2-0-1 on the season.
The lone goal of the game came late in the first half. Trystin Burger drew a throw-in deep in the Caldwell end of the field, and tossed the ball to Wilma Jansson. The sophomore turned toward net and fed a pass diagonally through defenders to Charlotte Bernard, who struck the ball into the lower left corner of the net at 31:36 for her second of the year.
AIC's defense was stout from there. The team allowed just one shot on goal in each half, both of which were snuffed out by Olivia Sousa. The team's captain improved to 2-0-1 on the season with her second shutout.
