HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Both teams struggled to score early on in the game. AIC notched the lone goal of the first quarter on the power play at 10:43 as Antonella Mikolyuk fired low on a brilliant pass from Liz Day.
- Early in the second, Mikolyuk found Day on the left side, and Day moved past the defense to get a shot home at 1:32 to put AIC ahead 2-0.
- The Golden Knights bounced back, as Kaitlyn Jolly scored twice in a 1:35 span to tie the game, and built up to a 4-2 edge by halftime.
- Lauren Pendergast pushed the lead to 5-2 before AIC rebounded, as Sam Giordano finished a feed from Molly Leavitt at 3:49. The Golden Knights scored two more, but Leavitt was there again to set up Giordano at 10:15, and that score held though the end of the frame.
- Kaitlyn Morris added her name to the scoresheet with a goal on a free position attempt at 1:38, and added another at 5:02 on a brilliant play to beat a defender at the left side of the net. However, despite key saves down the stretch by goalkeeper Jessica Stone and a late yellow card on the visiting side, Saint Rose held onto the 7-6 score to the end of the game.
