HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just like the two games from Saturday, the Yellow Jackets put up a run in the first inning. It came off the bat of rookie Michael Nazzaro who singled to right center and junior Michael Cruz scored from second. The Chargers answered with a run in their half to tie the game at one.
- The Yellow Jackets put another run on the board when senior Angel Mendez scored from third on a sacrifice fly from freshman Jackson Haker. New Haven tied the game in the bottom of the inning.
- AIC called the Chargers in the top of the fourth. The bases were loaded when newcomer Austin Bequeath grounded out to second but the Chargers traded the run for an out. On the next play freshman Alexander Morse grounded out to short and once again the Chargers elected to let the run score to record the out.
- The score didn't change until the bottom of the sixth when the Chargers took the lead by scoring three runs. Additionally, they added a run in the seventh to extend their lead to 6-4.
- AIC cut its deficit in half when freshman Kiernan Caffrey scored from third on a groundout to short.
- With the tying run on second and one out in the ninth, Haker singled through the right side to tie the game at six.
- New Haven opened their half of the ninth with a single through the left side followed by a fielder's choice that resulted in an error by the Yellow Jackets. On the play, AIC was able to get the lead runner attempting to take third on the error. The next hitter grounded out to second but was able to push the runner over to third who scored on an AIC error to end the game.
