Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's volleyball hits 20 wins with sweep of Division I Hartford

HARTFORD, Connecticut – The offense fired on all cylinders as the American International College women's volleyball team swept Division I University of Hartford 25-14, 25-18, 25-15 on Saturday, October 15.

AIC improves to 20-1 on the season, having won 17 consecutive matches.

The Yellow Jackets were steady and efficient in the first set. Though they never scored more than three points in a row, they held the Hawks to two consecutive points just once as they hit .423 in the set.

The second saw the Hawks get out to a small early lead, but a five-point run and seven of eight put AIC ahead 11-7, and the Yellow Jackets simply controlled the set from there. Andjela Bublic was particularly impressive in the middle frame, landing six kills.

In the third, AIC put Hartford away. The team jumped to a 7-2 lead, and led by another strong offensive showing, overpowered the opposition. Fittingly, the last two points of the match were kills by Aleksandra Ivanovic, who had five in the third of her eight, and Bublic, who ended with eight as well.

As a team, AIC hit .364 against the Hawks, collecting 43 kills against just seven errors; they also had nine aces while allowing Hartford just one. Ivanovic's eight kills came on just 11 swings, giving her a .727 attack percentage for the evening; Bublic hit .538, with eight kills to one error on 13 swings.

The Yellow Jackets return home to the Henry Butova Gymnasium on Tuesday, October 18 against Northeast-10 Conference foe Le Moyne College. First serve is slated for 5:00 p.m.
