HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets broke the scoreless deadlock thanks to a high-effort play from the back to the front. Rookie Nina Gamelli hustled to keep in an errant pass in along the sideline and beat a defender to make a pass to junior Trystin Burger. The ball ultimately ended up in possession of freshman Frances Powers about thirty yards from the cage, and she went to her right with a pass back to Burger, who in turn served a perfect ball to freshman Reese Carey just above the six-yard box. Carey whipped the shot into the left corner of the net at 28:58.
  • Carey and Burger were not done figuring into the AIC offense. Late in the second half, the rookie swung a pass from the left side to Burger just outside of the box, and Burger fed a brilliant through ball to freshman Gabby Williams who made no mistake in putting home the ball into the lower left side at 73:21.
  • Tamra Zippin recorded her third shutout this season, recording one save tonight in the process. Tonight's win marks her 10th career shutout as she had not conceded a single goal during seven games in her first season in 2019.
