HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets generated the first quality chances of the game in the 14th minute, as freshman Wilma Jansson fired two different shots less than 30 seconds apart from the right side of the box that hit the crossbar behind goalkeeper Julia Walsh.
  • In addition to the two crossbar shots, the Yellow Jackets put four bids on target in the first half, but Walsh came up strong; at the other end, junior Tamra Zippin stuffed two opposing chances.
  • In the second, AIC again had the best chances; freshman Gabby Williams fired a shot that was blocked along the goal line by a defender in the 77th minute, and then Walsh was carded for a challenge in the box, which saw AIC awarded a penalty kick. However, she was able to redeem herself with a diving save to her left against freshman Jocelyn Trajkovski's attempt and the defense cleared the rebound.
  • Redshirt freshman Nora Young also had a late-half attempt denied by Walsh; AIC ultimately outshot the Greyhounds 4-1 in the half, but with the score still 0-0, the teams required extra time.
  • Assumption carried the play in overtime, and pinned AIC deep in their own territory; following a throw in by Annie Irwin, Addison Davis was able to find Julia Sferlazza on the top left side of the 18-yard box, and she fired a shot into the bottom right corner of the net past a diving Zippin for the game-winning tally at 94:32.
