HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Yellow Jackets struck first in the early portion of the game as junior Nicole Gamberoni fed a ball up the left flank for Porter, who cut past a defender and took a shot into the right corner of the net at 12:20.
  • The captain quickly doubled AIC's lead on a similar play; rookie Jocelyn Trajkovski delivered a brilliant through ball that Porter was able to beat a defender, gather at the top of the 18, and step into a low-left shot for her second of the game at 19:06.
  • A flurry of chances came for AIC in the 38th minute, as freshman Wilma Jansson hit the left post and then junior Trystin Burger and freshman Frances Powers each had shots blocked in a span of 11 seconds, but the Dolphins escaped into halftime down just 2-0.
  • AIC dominated most of the second half, but the visiting side was able to cut into the lead thanks to a corner kick. Hildur Unnarsdottir's volley in from the right-side corner found the head of Katharine Stanard and then the net at 71:13.
  • The Dolphins ramped up the pressure, but AIC's defenses held firm, and Porter connected with freshman Gabby Williams to put the game away, sending a perfect pass from the right corner to the open forward at the penalty marker for a shot into the right side of the goal at 88:27 to secure the 3-1 win.

QUOTABLE:

  • "I'm proud of how we came together tonight despite some recent setbacks. We fought through to the very end," Porter said.
  • "I am super proud of this team for working for each other today," Head Coach Kevon Isa said, adding, "Congratulations to Caroline for two goals, but overall it was a total team effort. We have lots of work ahead of us and big goals in mind, but this was a great way to get our first conference win."
