HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
- The Golden Knights scored a run in the second and third as they took the early lead.
- In the top of the fourth, senior Matt Costanza led the inning off with a single through the left side. After stealing second and taking third on a ground out, sophomore Chad Levelle singled Costanza home and made it 2-1.
- Saint Rose scored six runs in the fourth and four in the fourth to take the 12-1 lead.
- In the top of the eighth, senior Anthony Clark hit a two-out double to left-center and took third on a wild pitch. He touched home on a single by redshirt junior Dalton Quinn.
- Senior Angel Mendez led off the final frame as he was plunked by a pitch. Graduate student Darnel Figueroa singled to right and gave AIC runners on the corners. Mendez scored on a ground out which allowed Figueroa to move to second. He was on third when Costanza singled to short which allowed him to make it a 12-4 game.
Game 2:
- After two and a half scoreless innings, the Golden Knights took a 1-0 lead.
- Senior Ian O'Brien took offense to the team's deficit as he went deep to left in the next half inning with Levelle on base to give AIC a 2-1 lead.
- In the top of the seventh of the seven-inning game, sophomore Michael Cruz doubled to left field to lead off the inning. O'Brien laid down a beautiful bunt and forced the pitcher to overthrow the toss to first which allowed Cruz to score. With two outs, senior Matt Krause hit a two-run home run to left and gave AIC a 5-1 lead.
- Costanza forced the first two Golden Knights to hit into outs. After giving up a hit, he got Hamer to pop up to first as he recorded his first save of the season.
