HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
  • The Panthers got on the board early in the first frame. After a leadoff walk by Alifano and double by Feliz, Ryan grounded out to first to score Alifano. The Panthers drew a walk before Matos went deep to left for a three-run home run.
  • The Panthers added two more runs in the top of the second to take the 6-0 lead.
  • The bats started to come alive in the bottom of the second for AIC. Senior Matt Costanza led things off with a walk which sophomore Chad Lavelle followed up with a single to right. With two outs, the Yellow Jackets completed a double steal which proved to be a deciding factor. Senior Ian O'Brien hit a hard-hit ball in play and forced a throwing error by the third basemen which allowed Constanza and Lavelle to score.
  • In the bottom of the third and two runners on, redshirt Junior Dalton Quinn went deep to centerfield to tie the game at six.
  • Adelphi re-took the lead in the top of the fifth on a double by Cipri.
  • Quinn took offense to the Panthers' lead and went deep for the second time to tie the game.
  • The Panthers added four runs between the sixth and seventh to take the game 11-7.
Game 2:
  • Adelphi jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third thanks in part to back-to-back-to-back doubles.
  • With the bases loaded in the bottom of the third, Costanza grounded out to the shortstop as the Panthers conceded the run.
  • The Panthers added a run in the top of the fourth. After four complete innings of play, the game entered an hour-long rain delay. Out of the delay, Adelphi added another run to take the 5-1 lead before adding four runs in the top of the eighth.
  • Quinn added a run in the bottom of the eighth on a single that scored senior Anthony Clark. It was not enough as the game was called due to darkness after the eighth inning.
NEXT UP:
  • The Yellow Jackets hit the road to take on The College of Saint Rose on Friday, May 7, and Saturday, May, 8.
