NEW HAVEN, Connecticut The American International College baseball team played a mid-week single game against the University of New Haven on Wednesday, April 28. The two teams were tied at two after nine innings, but the Chargers scored a run in the top of the 10
th to take the game 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite playing on their home field, the Chargers hit first in the game. In the top of the first inning, Budzik singled up the middle with one out. After a strikeout and another single, Budzik scored on a single through the left side by Taylor.
- Budzik was on third with one out in the top of the third when Bianco hit a deep flyball to left that allowed Budzik to give the Chargers the 2-0 lead.
- In the bottom half of the inning sophomore Chad Lavelle led the frame off with a single to second. Senior Angel Mendez was hit by a pitch and the Chargers went to their bullpen. Junior Brandon Gaul struck out but runners executed a double steal to perfection. The steal made a difference as junior Alejandro Mosquera hit a sacrifice fly to right to make it a 2-1 game.
- Senior Matt Costanza led the bottom of the sixth off with a triple but was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice put in play by junior Cam Defeo. Redshirt junior Dalton Quinn singled through the left side and Defeo advanced 90-feet. Lavelle sent a 2-2 pitch up the middle and the speedy Defeo scored to tie the game.
- The Chargers took advantage of an AIC error in the top of the 10th as Budzik ended up on third with one out. A single through the left side by Wells made it a 3-2 game.
