SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts The American International College women's lacrosse team came up short against Southern Connecticut State University, falling 12-7 in Northeast-10 Conference Southwest Division play on Wednesday, March 31.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- AIC got the jump on the Owls as rookie Anevay Rice struck first at 2:22, but the Owls responded with a 4-0 run over 3:12 to take a 4-1 edge to the midpoint of the first half.
- Senior Krista Iwanicki pulled AIC back within two at 15:44, but the Owls responded with two tallies of their own, as Molly Kelly and Jettke Gray each scored.
- Down the stretch of the period, junior Sam Giordano tallied twice, scoring while the Owls were shorthanded at 23:32, and then finishing a feed from sophomore Elly Macdonald at 27:25 to cut the lead for Southern Connecticut to 6-4 at the break.
- The Owls scored twice in the first 4:16 out of halftime, with Mia Pulisciano and Karlie Rowe netting goals, and then clamped down; neither team scored for over 12 minutes until Iwanicki finished a pass from Giordano at the 17:00 mark.
- The Owls quickly added to their quantity thereafter, notching four more to put the game out of reach with 3:33 to play; Giordano and Iwanicki would complete their hat tricks, but AIC ultimately fell 12-7.
