HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the early going, neither team managed much offense; Sydney Meagher scored the only goal of the first 11 minutes of play for the Dolphins.
- Meagher set up Jessica Meneilly for a tally at 11:52 that sparked a run of scoring; a green card subsequent to the goal helped AIC open its offense up as freshman Anevay Rice tallied at 12:24. Erin McMullen countered just 31 seconds later, but junior Sam Giordano retaliated with a goal of her own at 13:44.
- Le Moyne notched three goals in a 2:57 span to build to a 6-2 lead, but AIC slowed down the Dolphins offense thereafter, with three bids in the final 10 minutes of the frame squashed by graduate student Chelsea Davis in the process.
- Out of the break, Le Moyne's Sidney Hall scored just 48 seconds into the half, but AIC had a response, with graduate student Krista Iwanici scoring 1:57 later. The teams traded goals over the next 10 minutes, with Rice and Iwanicki striking again for the Yellow Jackets to bring the score to 9-5, and Rice was set up for a hat trick goal by senior Devin Coulter at 11:40, prompting the Dolphins to take a time out.
- Though the hosts had the opportunity to regroup, the Yellow Jackets kept punching, with Coulter winning the subsequent draw, and Iwanicki hit the net for her third of the game at 12:33, bringing the score to 9-7.
- The Dolphins thought they had an answer on the very next possession, but a goal by McMullen was negated following an illegal stick ruling. However, the hosts did ultimately strike for the next one that counted at 15:20.
- AIC was not finished, with Coulter bringing her side back within two at 18:26 right after a timeout.
- The Dolphins were able to hang on, scoring a few more late to provide the margin of victory in a close battle.
THE GOALIE IS PRETTY GOOD:
- In any potential upset, the goalkeeper has to turn in a strong performance, and Davis did that, stuffing nine chances for the Dolphins as well as causing three turnovers.
- She had a season-high nine ground balls as well, pushing her career total to 157, just a dozen shy of Gina Gallo '11's program record of 169.
AND SO IS THE OTHER SENIOR:
- Coulter notched two points and two caused turnovers on the day, moving into ninth all-time in caused turnovers in program history.
- She also notched two more draw controls for a career total of 108, sixth-most in the program's record book.
