HOW IT HAPPENED:
- It was an even game for the first 12 minutes as the teams traded goals in the early stages; Carlyn Mucci struck first at the 3:49 mark for the hosts, but graduate Krista Iwanicki answered right at the 5:00 point with her first of the day. Pace responded with two, but sophomore Elly Macdonald set up senior Devin Coulter for a strike at 10:34, and sophomore Liz Day tied the game just 40 seconds later.
- Pace picked up its offensive onslaught after the Day goal, striking four times in a 3:30 span to take a 7-3 lead before Coulter broke the run with a goal at 16:17. However, the Setters kept pushing, more than doubling their goal total before the break and taking a 15-4 lead into halftime.
- After an early pair by the home squad to start the second half, AIC got back on the attack as Iwanicki set up Day for her second of the afternoon at 5:35, then scored her own second goal at 7:19.
- The Setters countered with two goals to build their lead further, and despite two goals by junior Molly Leavitt to round out AIC's scoring, Pace controlled play down the stretch to win 22-8.
IWANI-KEY PLAYER:
- Iwanicki has been a critical piece for AIC in just about every aspect of the game; her 10 points leads the team, and she also has won 18 draw controls in just four games, an average of 4.5 per contest.
- She also has collected six ground balls and forced five turnovers.
