HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After nearly three minutes of scoreless action, the Falcons went ahead 4-0 on a dunk as well as a layup. Junior guard Shyheim Hicks drained the first AIC basket of the game with a three from the right wing off the pass from junior point guard Jordan Vidal. Senior forward Zekiah Owens then nailed a jumper to give AIC its first lead of the game. On the next possession, redshirt-sophomore Bane Terzic grabbed the defensive rebound and ended the offensive possession with a made three while drawing a foul. He stepped up the line and completed the four-point play.
  • The run did not end there as Owens read a bad pass, stole the ball and finished with authority on the other end. After a free throw by the visitors, Owens laid one in off the glass to give his team the 13-5 lead.
  • With six minutes remaining in the first half, Owens hit a layup to knot the game at 25. In the last 1:48 of the first frame, the Yellow Jackets outscored the Falcons 6-1 as they cut their deficit to two, 37-35.
  • Out of the locker room, the Falcons made a right-handed layup, but Hicks answered with a right corner three and a left-handed layup. The Falcons scored another basket, but Terzic hit a long ball from the left wing in transition to give AIC the 43-41 lead.
  • The Yellow Jackets retained the lead or were tied with the Falcons until the 10:36 mark when Brian Wright-Kinsey hit a three to take the 54-51 lead.
  • With five minutes remaining in the game, the Falcons went on a 7-0 run and took the 63-56 lead as they shot 3-for-3 from the field, including a three pointer. Owens made it 64-60 with three and a half minutes remaining on a layup off the pass from Terzic. AIC turned up its defense, but late free throws by the Falcons put the game out of reach as they took the win 73-66.
