SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts- The American International College baseball split its doubleheader with Le Moyne College, winning 5-4 in game one and falling 13-3 in game two on Saturday, April 27.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game One:
- After three scoreless innings, Le Moyne got on the board first, connecting on a two-run home run to right center.
- In the top of the fifth inning, the Dolphins went up 3-0 after an RBI single through the left side.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, redshirt senior Reed Phillips smashed a three-run dinger to tie the ball game at three.
- In the following at-bat, senior Matthew Elliott matched Phillips by hitting a solo shot to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-3 lead.
- One inning later, sophomore Anthony Clark joined the fun and hit the Yellow Jackets third home run of the game, as AIC defeated Le Moyne 5-4 in game one.
Game Two:
- The Dolphins started the game with a homer to right field and a double down the left field line to lead 2-0 after the top of the second.
- Le Moyne went on to score another run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to increase its lead to 5.
- The Yellow Jackets got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when senior Eugene Quirk singled through the left side, scoring junior Matt Costanza.
- In the next inning, Clark drove in senior Brendan Carter to cut the deficit to three runs.
- The Dolphins got back up four runs after a sacrifice fly in the seventh, but AIC cut the lead back down the three shortly after.
- AIC had a chance to cut more into the lead in the bottom of the seventh but left three baserunners on to end the inning.
- Le Monye closed out the game by scoring seven unanswered runs to defeat the Yellow Jackets 13-3 in game two of their doubleheader.
BUZZWORTHY:
- In game one, Phillips and Elliott hit back-to-back for homers in the bottom of the sixth.
- For the second time this season, both Phillips and Elliott connected on home runs in the same game.
NEXT UP:
- The Yellow Jackets will begin wrap up the series on Sunday, April 28 at 9 a.m.
- Tomorrow morning's game will be senior day for nine Yellow Jackets.
