Baseball drops series finale to Le Moyne

SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts- The American International College baseball team dropped their series to Le Moyne College on Sunday, April 28.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Nine Yellow Jackets suited up for potentially their last time at Bedard Field.
  • Redshirt senior Eugene Quirk grounded into a double play in the bottom of the second, but it allowed redshirt senior Reed Phillips to score the team's first run of the morning.
  • In the top of the fourth, Le Moyne tied the game at one after a single to left field.
  • One inning later, the Dolphins added on two more runs with a single up the middle and a single to left field.
  • Senior Josh Aviles helped cut the lead to one, hitting a sacrifice fly to allow senior Matthew Elliott to tag up from third.
  • The Dolphins pulled away in the sixth and seventh inning, up 5-2 after a passed ball in the sixth and a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
  • In the bottom half of the seventh, junior Matt Krause singled to right center, driving in freshman Brandon Gual from second base, 5-3.
  • Le Moyne scored two more runs in the remaining two innings to defeat the Yellow Jackets 7-3 in the series finale.

  • The Yellow Jackets will travel to Albany, New York to take on the College of Saint Rose on Tuesday, April 30 at 3:30 p.m.
