HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • There were chances at both ends in the first half, but neither team scored; the most dangerous opportunity was early in the second frame on a bid by Nell Criscione that senior Katelynn Leclerc made a diving defensive save on.
  • AIC broke through late in the third period; on a penalty corner, sophomore Wynona Shaw batted her own rebound through the legs of Anna Hurley at 40:52.
  • Saint Michael's drew a corner in the fourth frame and converted, as Shelagh Fluharty found Molly Humiston at the top of the circle for a blast into the cage at 48:09.
  • With time winding down, the Yellow Jackets found themselves on a 3-on-2 breakout thanks to a pass by Shaw to senior Georgia Barnes; Barnes broke into the circle on the left side and passed to rookie Kirstin Snethlage, who fired a high shot that Hurley rejected. However, Snethlage got to the rebound and slid it to senior Chelsea Davis, who flicked it into the upper corner of the cage for the decisive goal at 56:13.
BARNES-STORMING:
  • Though she did not end up with a goal, Barnes was the most visible player on the field for either team. The midfielder took a game-high eight shots, with five on target, and set up the breakout for what turned into the winning goal.
  • Barnes' 27 shots is a team-best total.
MILE-STONE MOMENT:
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Stone reached the 200-save plateau in the third period of play.
  • She is the seventh goalkeeper in program history to reach the mark.
