HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Early on, the Hawks generated a few shots, but graduate Ben Taylor and the defense kept the net clean in spite of the visiting side drawing three corners in the first 16 minutes.
- By the end of the period, AIC held a 9-5 shot advantage.
- It took until the 62nd minute for the first goal of the game; senior Josip Validzic beat a defender up the left sideline and slotted a perfect cross for junior Connor Hicks to run on to and fire low right at 63:16.
- The Hawks began to press, and AIC capitalized on a corner late in the game; senior Jake Durham's kick was fired back across the box right to left to senior Steven Carias, who jammed it home at 83:52 for the goal and the 2-0 final.
PERRY PICKS UP 30TH WIN:
- For head coach Luke Perry, the victory was his 30th career win, tying him with Maurice Suher for second-most in program history; Suher coached from 1966-71.
- Only Perry's predecessor, Fred Balbino, is ahead of Perry; Balbino coached for 17 years and won 109 games.
